February: Annual Food Drive
Boys Scout Troop #70 collected
over 34 boxes of items for distribution to our client families.
April: Passover Baskets
This holiday celebrating religious freedom
was marked by sharing of traditional Passover foods, gathered by
volunteers from Congregation
Beth Emeth.
May: Mitzvah
Day
Beautiful Spring Cleaning Supply Baskets were made for people in
need at Wilmington Senior Center & Brandywine Senior
Center
by volunteers who participated in the Jewish Federation's
annual Mitzvah Day.
September:
Food Drive
Throughout the school year, Albert Einstein Academy and
Gratz Hebrew
High School donate food that is distributed to our clients
in need.
October: Days of Caring
Elegant baskets were
filled with non-perishable canned goods or other items donated
to JFS by volunteers from the DuPont Company. The baskets
are tailored to fit your party then the contents are donated to
needy community members.
November:
Thanksgiving is 'In the Bag'
JFS’s Thanksgiving
Giving program provided more than 115 Thanksgiving meals for 60
families with support from community members including Carol
and Jeff Stape,
employees from Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC under the
leadership of Arlene Wilson, teachers, parents and
students from
Albert Einstein Academy and the members of the Wilmington
Senior Center and the Widener Law School Jewish Law
Students Association from. The interfaith community
including Congregation Beth Emeth, Christ Church, Emanuel
Church and Mt. Lebanon Methodist helped in packaging the
food gifts and providing additional food. And this year, for the
first time, the Agency partnered with the United States
Marines as a collection station for the delivery of Toys for
Tots.
December:
Adopt a Family and Emmanuel Dining Hall
More than 27 families
or 65 individuals were the recipients of our Adopt-A-Family
program. The recipient families through the agency’s clinical
and care management staff. The law firms of McCarter and
English, Reed Smith LLP, Saul Ewing LLP., Monzack, Mersky,
McLaughlin and Prowder, P.A., and
Campbell & Levine, LLC., as well as Creekside Nutrition,
Friendly Gift Shop, the Harvest Time Fellowship and
State employees
purchased coats, sweaters, sneakers, bathrobes, rain boots,
kitchen supplies, bicycles, computers, WIIs, IPads and toys. The
Ross Family
and Bloom Family provided cash assistance and gift cards.
If it’s December, it’s serving Christmas dinner at Emmanuel
Dining Hall. More than 30 individuals helped prepare and serve a
