WHAT WE BELIEVE…

We are all responsible for one another

Born from this fundamental Jewish value, JFS supports families of all backgrounds as they deal with basic human needs, life transitions, and mental health issues.

JFS has the unique privilege of representing the tzedakah (justice), compassion, and loving kindness of the Jewish people to the broader community.  Many JFS clients are not Jewish, but all of them learn what it means to be Jewish: the beauty of our traditions, the strength of our commandments, and our commitment to tikkun olam, building a better world.

Our Jewish Values

Tikkun Olam [tee-KOON oh-LUHM] תקון עולם‎

the collective obligation to work toward “repairing the world,” making it right and whole

Tzedakah [tsedaˈka] צדקה

the obligation of the Jewish community to create justice in the world

B’tzelem Elohim [biht-SEH-lehm Elo-him] צֶלֶם אֱלֹהִים

treating others with the inherent dignity that arises from the belief that all human beings were created in the image of G-d

Chesed [KHesəd] חסד

compassion and caring for others

G’Melut Chasadim גמילות חסדים

acts of kindness and assistance toward others

Kol Yisrael arevim zeh la-zeh כָּלּ יְִשְׂרָאֵל עֲרֵבִים זֶה בָּזֶה

the inherent responsibility that each of us has to assist and care for other human beings

Support for everyone in the family

The JFS staff of highly-trained compassionate professionals work together to provide a seamless system of support for everyone in the family – children, teens, adults, and seniors.
