Outpatient Therapist

Lucian is an Outpatient Therapist and Certified School Counselor for JFS Delaware. She completed her Master’s in Generalist Practice and her Bachelor’s in Social Work from Delaware State University. She also received Associate degrees in Drug and Alcohol Counseling and Human Services from Delaware Technical and Community College.

Lucian worked in the banking industry for over 20 years but her passion has always been Social Work. When she had the opportunity to pursue a career in Social Work, she became overly excited.

As a Social Worker/Clinician, she has worked in a variety of settings, including Treatment Accountability for Safer Communities (TASC), Children & Families First; Connections Community; Capital School District; and Christiana Care.

In her free time, Lucian enjoys listening to inspirational music, cooking, interior decorating, meeting people’s needs, and swimming. One fun fact about her is that she loves to socialize and entertain her friends.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

Approaches, Theories, and Modalities

  • Since “no one size fits all,” I favor using an integrative approach to therapy based on an individual’s needs and intellectual capacity. However, if I had to choose one specific therapy, it would be Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), because it is highly effective for several mental health concerns and has a practical structure that makes it easily measurable. My goal is to be trained in EMDR since research shows it to be one of the most effective treatments for trauma.
  • My specialties are relationship problems, substance use/abuse, anxiety, depression, bipolar, trauma, grief, and loss.

Populations and Issues

  • I like working with different populations; however, I prefer working with young adults and the elderly.
