Why join a caregiver support group?
Joining a dementia caregiver support group offers valuable emotional, practical, and social benefits for those providing care. Support groups provide a safe space to share experiences, reduce feelings of isolation, and gain practical advice from others facing similar challenges. Caregivers can learn new coping strategies, access resources, and find a sense of community, ultimately improving their own well-being and enhancing their ability to care for their loved one.
Key goals of the support groups are to help caregivers build resiliency, as well as to share experiences and exchange practical information around care. Sessions will include application of various therapy concepts that directly connect to the caregiving experience and stress that comes with it.
ABOUT THE GROUPS:
For Caregivers of Persons in Early and Middle Stage Dementia: This group is tailored to the needs of caregivers whose person is experiencing early or middle stage dementia, and who are typically navigating changes in their person’s function, decision-making capacity, ability to live independently, behavioral symptoms, etc.
For Caregivers of Persons with Severe Stage Dementia: This group is tailored to the needs of caregivers whose person is experiencing severe stage dementia, and who are often navigating grief and loss alongside day-to-day care challenges in the later stages of disease.
Not sure which group is right for you? There can certainly be overlap in the needs of both groups. We will be more than happy to discuss which group may be the best fit for your needs currently.
