Director of Program Operations & Training

Wendell is the Director of Program Operations and Training, responsible for providing confidential and professional level support to members of the JFS staff. In this role, Wendell will focus on agency-wide program needs, assisting with program development, grants management, community engagement, internal and external trainings, and more.

In addition to his primary role in Operations & Training, Wendell also serves as an integral member of the COMPASS team, applying his expertise as a licensed clinical social worker to assist individuals and families impacted by dementia. In this role, he provides caregiver support through individual and family therapy, as well as psycho-education, assistance with problem-solving, and caregiver training. His integration into the clinical care team enables him to provide highly individualized coaching to caregivers, including non-pharmacological approaches to dementia-related behaviors. Wendell cites his passion for working with family caregivers and the unique relationship he shared with his grandmother as his motivation for serving these families.

Wendell is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who received his Masters Degree in Social work from Syracuse University in 2015. Wendell has spent the majority of his career in behavioral healthcare, providing family therapy to the families of high risk/gang involved youth and families that have experienced the removal of a child by Department of Children and Family Services. Wendell is a National Consultant for Functional Family Therapy LLC and provides ongoing clinical supervision, support, and training to Functional Family Therapy teams around the world. Wendell has always been supervised by LMFTs and feels that this has greatly enhanced his systemic view of problems and the way he approaches clinical work. Wendell served on the trauma task force in Syracuse, NY and worked to increase trauma supports for the community.

Wendell has two young sons and spends most of his time with them and his wife. Wendell doesn’t love camping, but his kids do so he takes them throughout the summer. Wendell and his wife moved their family to Wilmington, DE from Syracuse, NY during the pandemic to get a fresh start and create a better standard of life for their family. Wendell has been a life long Eagles fan, and the other Philadelphia teams are growing on him.
